Al-Samra Bathhouse – Gaza
Al-Samra Bathhouse is one of the most significant Ottoman architectural landmarks in Palestine, located in Al-Zaytoun neighborhood of Gaza. It is considered a prime example of Ottoman bathhouses in the region. The design features a gradual transition from the hot room to the warm room and then to the cold room, with a dome above the cold room that has circular stained glass windows allowing sunlight to illuminate the space naturally, adding elegance and beauty to the venue. The floor is beautifully paved with marble tiles and various colored geometric patterns. The bathhouse was recently restored, enhancing its beauty and splendor. On 30 December 2023, Israeli occupation aircraft and tanks bombed and completely demolished it.

On April 12, 2024, Israeli occupation aircraft targeted Izz Al-Din Al-Qassam Mosque in Nuseirat refugee camp. Before Fajr prayer, the muezzin was preparing to call for prayer and wake up the residents. However, he received a phone call from a neighbor informing him that the mosque was about to be bombed. He fled and survived, but there was not enough time to warn those inside, including those who were performing ablution. In less than three minutes, the four-story mosque collapsed before his eyes, resulting in its complete destruction and the martyrdom of four people inside. The mosque collapsed, leaving its minaret standing as a testament to the violation of its sanctity.
The Indonesian Hospital
The Indonesian Hospital is the first hospital built during the blockade and closure of the Gaza Strip since 2006. The idea of its establishment emerged following the Israeli aggression of 2008-2009, and its construction began in 2011.
The hospital is located in northern Gaza, in Jabalia Camp – Tel Al-Zaatar, providing services to more than 300,000 citizens, with an average of 250 patients daily.

Additionally, most of the glass windows and facades of the university buildings were shattered.
Abu Shamala Mosque – Rafah
The mosque was named after Mohammed Abu Shamala, a military commander in the Al-Qassam Brigades, who was martyred on 21 August 2014 during an Israeli airstrike that targeted him in Rafah. The mosque serves as an important religious and social center for the residents of the area, where prayers and various religious activities are held.
On 3 May 2024, Israeli occupation aircraft targeted the vicinity of Abu Shamala Mosque in Tel Al-Sultan, west of Rafah City in the southern Gaza Strip, resulting in the partial destruction of the mosque.
Ibn Marwan Mosque – Gaza
The mosque was established in 1371 AD and is one of the famous mosques in Gaza. Ibn Marwan Mosque is located in the Shujaiya neighborhood, on the northeastern edge of Gaza City along Salah al-Din Street. The mosque spans an area of 320 square meters, with Salah al-Din Street bordering it on the eastern side, and a cemetery containing the grave of Sheikh Ali Ibn Marwan on the southern and western sides. This cemetery also bears his name. The mosque dates back to the Mamluk period and is named after Sheikh Ali Ibn Marwan, the owner of the tomb located under the dome attached to the mosque. He passed away in 1315 AD and is believed to be one of the distinguished people from Morocco who settled in Gaza.
The mosque features a wide minaret and a roof covered by nine circular domes, supported by six marble columns adorned with prominent Islamic engravings. The inner courtyard, located on the eastern side of the pulpit, is characterized by intricate decorations and arches. The mosque was first rebuilt and restored in 1325 AD, approximately ten years after the death of Imam Ali Ibn Marwan.
On 10 December 2023, Ibn Marwan Mosque was destroyed during the incursion of Israeli occupation forces into the Shujaiya neighborhood, while the adjacent cemetery was subjected to bulldozing.
Ibn Othman Mosque – Gaza
Ibn Othman Mosque is located in the Shujaiya neighborhood, east of Gaza City. It is the second largest historical mosque after the Great Omar Mosque. The mosque is named after Shihab al-Din Ibn Othman, one of the religious scholars of Gaza. Its construction dates back to the year 1400 AD. The western arcade of the mosque contains the tomb of Prince Yaljha, the ruler of Gaza during the Mamluk Sultan Barquq’s reign, who passed away in 1446 AD.
The residents of the Shujaiya neighborhood refer to this mosque as “The Grand Mosque” due to its large size and its central location in the main market of the neighborhood, which has had a significant impact on their lives throughout the historical periods since its establishment more than 600 years ago.
The mosque, which follows Mamluk architectural style, has an area of 2000 square meters, of which 400 square meters are occupied by its main courtyard. It has two gates that open onto the Shujaiya market.
Israeli occupation aircraft launched several large missiles at Ibn Othman Mosque, located in the heart of the Shujaiya neighborhood, resulting in its complete destruction.
The Great Al-Omari Mosque – Gaza
The Great Al-Omari Mosque is one of the oldest and most prominent mosques in the Gaza Strip. It is located in the heart of Old Gaza, in the Al-Daraj neighborhood. It was established during the era of Caliph Omar Ibn Al-Khattab and is considered the third largest mosque in Palestine.
The oldest section of the mosque was constructed in the basilica style of the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist in the 12th century AD. It is believed that the mosque was built on the site of the Temple of the god Marna during the Roman period, as well as the Byzantine Church of Eudoxia. The mosque is notable for its inscriptions dating back to the Mamluk and Ottoman eras.
It was named “Al-Omari” in reference to Caliph Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, and “Great” because it is the largest mosque in the Gaza Strip, covering an area of approximately 4,100 square meters. Inside, it houses a library containing numerous historical books and manuscripts. The mosque was built from Kurkar sandstone, and its outer courtyard is adorned with decorations and circular arches. The structure reflects the style of ancient architecture, surrounded by circular arches and centered with elevated domes. It has five gates that open to historic streets and alleyways bearing the legacy of the civilizations that once inhabited Gaza City.
The mosque is distinguished by its towering minaret, adorned with diverse Mamluk-style decorations. The minaret is square-shaped in its lower half and octagonal in its upper half, which consists of four levels.
The mosque was subjected to bombardment by Israeli occupation aircraft, resulting in partial destruction during the aggression on the Gaza Strip. Israel had previously destroyed parts of the mosque during its war on Gaza in 2014.
