Sheikh Hamad Hospital for Prosthetics is the only medical facility in the Gaza Strip specialized in prosthetic limb fittings and rehabilitation. It was established in 2016 following directives from Emir Hamad bin Khalifa to the Qatari Committee for the Reconstruction of Gaza and the Qatar Fund for Development.

On October 15, 2023, the hospital administration announced that the facility had sustained significant damage due to intense Israeli bombardment in its vicinity. On November 6, 2023, Qatar condemned the Israeli occupation’s claims regarding the presence of tunnels beneath Sheikh Hamad Hospital, following its targeting and shutdown as a result of the heavy bombardment that struck the nearby Al-Karama neighborhood.

A recorded video documented the extent and nature of the destruction inflicted on the hospital due to Israeli shelling and military incursion.
