Hamad City in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip, was conceived as a solution to Gaza's housing crisis, which had reached a deficit of 60,000 housing units. The project aimed to build a residential city for the poor and low-income individuals, selling apartments at cost price and on installment plans.
During the wars on Gaza Strip, some towers in the city were damaged and were repaired after the hostilities. However, in the 2023-2024 brutal war, which left no stone unturned, the Israeli occupation forces completely destroyed Hamad city, including all its landmarks such as restaurants, shops, the city mosque, and its garden.
