Al-Helo International Specialized Hospital is a private hospital managed by Dr. Tharwat Yousef Al-Helo. It is located in the northwest of Gaza City.
On November 1, 2023, Israeli occupation forces bombed Al-Helo International Hospital after it accommodated and replaced the maternity ward of Al-Shifa Hospital. On November 14, 2023, local news outlets reported that Israeli tanks besieged more than 100 patients and medical staff inside Al-Helo International Hospital. The hospital director stated that there was no water or fuel, and contaminated rainwater was being used for sterilization. On November 16, 2023, local news outlets reported that Al-Helo International Hospital had ceased operations.
On March 20, 2024, Israeli occupation forces bombed Al-Helo Hospital. On July 8, 2024, WHO Director-General Tedros Ghebreyesus posted on Platform X that Al-Helo Hospital was among the areas threatened with evacuation by Israeli forces, but the hospital continued to operate partially. On July 15, 2024, the World Health Organization reported that Al-Helo International Hospital reduced its operational capacity due to the Israeli military operation in its vicinity. Intensive care units and surgical operations were suspended, but services resumed after military forces withdrew.
On July 26, 2024, WHO teams were unable to visit and assess the situation at Al-Helo International Hospital due to its location in areas ordered for evacuation by the Israeli army. On August 4, 2024, the hospital administration announced that dermatological cases would be received and diagnosed for two hours.
