On February 14, 2024, Israeli occupation aircraft committed a massacre against Al-Rafati family by targeting their home on Al-Jalaa Street in Gaza City without prior warning. This resulted in the martyrdom of 5 family members, including the political analyst Dr. Ayman Al-Rafati. During locals' attempts to recover the bodies of Al-Rafati, his brother's wife, and his three young nephews from under the rubble, the remains of a small child were also discovered.

Dr. Al-Rafati was a frequent guest on Al Jazeera during the war, with his last appearance occurring just hours before his martyrdom.
