Patient Friends Benevolent Society Hospital is a non-profit charitable institution established to address gaps in the healthcare sector. The society aims to assist patients, promote health awareness programs in the Gaza Strip, and organize educational courses, workshops, and studies for healthcare workers. Notably, the society shares its name with several other organizations across Palestine.

On October 22, 2023: The hospital’s director, Dr. Saeed Salah, issued an urgent appeal to institutions and organizations, warning that the hospital was on the brink of collapse due to depleting fuel supplies and calling for immediate intervention to prevent a total shutdown of its services.

On November 2, 2023: The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced that the hospital was out of service due to fuel depletion.

On November 10, 2023: The Israeli occupation forces bombed the vicinity of the Patient Friends Benevolent Society Hospital and destroyed an ambulance in front of the hospital building.

On February 10, 2024: The Israeli occupation forces burned and destroyed the hospital.

On February 13, 2024: The World Health Organization stated that the hospital had been evacuated at the beginning of the month and was out of service due to extensive damage.

On June 26, 2024: The hospital reopened after being restored.

On July 8, 2024: The Director of the Ministry of Health in Gaza, Dr. Munir Al-Barsh, stated that Israeli occupation tanks had positioned themselves in front of the hospital.

Palestinian Red Crescent teams transferred about 30 injured individuals from the Patient Friends Benevolent Society Hospital to the Indonesian Hospital in northern Gaza following occupation threats to evacuate parts of Gaza City.

Additionally, a report by the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs confirmed the evacuation of the hospital.

On July 12, 2024: The hospital was once again rendered out of service after being destroyed by Israeli occupation forces through airstrikes and artillery shelling. The hospital had just resumed operations following its restoration before the latest Israeli military assault on the western part of Gaza City.

On July 14, 2024: The hospital administration announced via Facebook that it had resumed operations and was providing pediatric medical services.
