Al-Omari Great Mosque in Gaza is the largest and oldest mosque in Gaza Strip, located in the old city of Gaza. It is named in honor of Caliph Omar ibn al-Khattab and is referred to as "Great" because it is the largest mosque in Gaza. Israeli occupation aircraft targeted the mosque, leading to the destruction of parts of it and the collapse of its minaret, which dates back 1,400 years. The mosque was subjected to further bombing by Israeli occupation aircraft on 8 December 2023, resulting in extensive damage.
