On November 10, 2023, Israeli occupation warplans targeted large sections of Al-Awda Hospital in the Tal al-Zaatar area, east of the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza Strip. A fire belt was executed around the hospital, leading to the martyrdom and injury of dozens of civilians.
On December 5, 2023, during its ground invasion in northern Gaza, the Israeli troops besieged the hospital for 18 days. During this period, the movement of doctors and patients within the hospital was severely restricted due to the risk of being shot by Israeli snipers. Ambulances and civilians faced significant difficulties in transporting the injured and patients to the hospital. During the siege, three hospital workers were martyred by sniper fire, and the third and fourth floors of the hospital were destroyed.
