Al-Pasha’s Palace Museum – Gaza

Information about

Al-Pasha’s Palace Museum – Gaza

Date of damage

1 December 2023

Details about the place

Al-Pasha's Palace is located in the old city (in Al-Daraj neighborhood) of Gaza City, Palestine. It is the only remaining palace in Gaza City and holds significant architectural value, reflecting the philosophy and characteristics of Islamic architecture in its design. The museum housed hundreds of artifacts, including pottery, glass, Corinthian columns, women's ornaments, and more. These artifacts date back to various periods, such as the Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and Islamic eras, including the Ayyubid, Umayyad, Mamluk, and Ottoman periods.

Israeli occupation aircraft targeted it in December 2023 during its aggression on Gaza Strip, which started in October 2023, along with targeting several other historical and archaeological sites. This led to the destruction of large parts of the palace, reducing it to ruins not seen since its construction seven centuries ago.
