The Al-Azhar University – Gaza is a Palestinian university established in 1991 to serve as a Palestinian institution for higher education that meets the aspirations of the Palestinian people and stands as a symbol of dedication and contribution.
Al-Azhar University – Gaza enjoys significant Arab and international recognition and has developed numerous and diverse relationships with various Arab and international unions, organizations, and networks. These relationships support and enhance the recognition of its degrees, graduates, and academic systems.
On November 4, 2023, Israeli occupation aircraft besieged Al-Azhar University and bombed and destroyed the buildings of the Faculty of Medicine, Engineering, Agriculture, and administrative buildings in Al-Moghraqa area, east of Gaza City, including Al-Azhar University building in the Al-Moghraqa area, east of Gaza City.
