Al-Aqsa University is a Palestinian governmental educational institution that aims to prepare individuals equipped with knowledge and skills, capable of continuous learning and utilizing technology. It is committed to Arab and Islamic cultural values and human rights principles such as responsibility, transparency, and justice.

Since October 7, 2023, the Israeli occupation has been targeting and destroying universities in the Gaza Strip, including Al-Aqsa University, Khan Younis branch. The attacks have involved targeting numerous university presidents and academics along with their families, and a direct bombardment on the university buildings, resulting in their complete destruction.
