Civilians

Under international humanitarian law, particularly the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and the Additional Protocols, civilian wounded are granted special protection during armed conflicts. These agreements stipulate that immediate medical care must be provided to all the wounded, and it is the responsibility of the warring parties to ensure the necessary protection and care for them. Targeting civilians or neglecting their treatment is a grave violation of international law and may be considered a war crime, warranting the accountability of those responsible for such violations.
